Cops Recover 19.9 Lakh From Real Estate Broker | News from Coimbatore

Coimbatore: A real estate broker was taken into custody on Monday for robbing the director of an 82 lakh real estate company in Jeeva Nagar on Vilankurichi Road on June 9.
Peelamedu Investigation Wing Police recovered 19.9 lakh from the accused, identified as SM Ravikumar a.k.a kennedy47 years old, from MGR Nagar in Sowripalayam.
According to a police officer, Ravikumar used 50 lakh of the stolen money to repay people he deceived in a land deal. “The remaining 12 lakh have yet to be found.” The officer said that Ravikumar collected more than a crore from some residents of Palladam and Kamanaickenpalayam in Tirupur district a few years ago to register the sites located in Paruvai in their name. “But he couldn’t register the land in their name and they filed a complaint against him with the Palladam and Kamanaickenpalayam police.”
Ravikumar, meanwhile, assured them to return their amount on June 10 (Friday). “At approximately 10:15 a.m. Thursday (June 9), he assaulted B Leo Maria Irudhayaraj, manager, Sigaram Garden Promoters at Jeeva Nagar on Vilankurichi Road, with a hammer and a hacksaw blade at his desk and took away 82 lakh from the locker. Ravikumar had sold some sites to the company earlier,” the officer said.
Based on the complaint of Leo, a resident of Pothiyankadu in Karumathampatti, Peelamedu Police registered a case and formed a task force, which caught Ravikumar on Sunday evening. tnn
